Extra services are being introduced by Hull Trains in the run up to Christmas and the ramp up of the new year.

The open access operator, back on the direct Lindon route after a second lockdown pause, will introduce an additional 34 journeys to the timetable as it meets passenger demand with reduced capacity trains.

Louise Cheeseman, managing director for Hull Trains, said: “We recognise that not everyone wants to travel during this time, but for those who do, we are making it as easy as possible for people to travel safe.

“There has been a high demand for our services so we are bringing in extra trains on more popular travel days.

“More trains mean more space for social distancing and we are asking passengers to do their bit by planning ahead and travelling during off-peak times.

“Other safety measures we have onboard includes clearly labelled seats to manage social distancing, extra cleaners on every journey and a live train tracker tool, which lets people check how busy the train is in real time.

“We have a robust action plan to make it as easy as possible for people to travel safely with us during the Christmas and New Year period. As part of our resumption plan, we continuously monitor demand from passengers and we can quickly bring in new services when there is an appetite.”

The services will be added from December 19 to December 24 and then between January 4 and January 8. Details can be . Earlier and lunch departures in the early week are complemented by a late Saturday Hull departure and early Sunday return pre-Christmas.
