Plans for a £200m energy park just outside Hull have been given the final go-ahead from Government.

The Yorkshire Energy Park, which is earmarked for the former Hedon Aerodrome site six miles east of Hull, is set to create up to 4,480 jobs.

The project was approved by the East Riding Council planning committee in November.

International names including Dell, SSE and E.on had pledged their support to the grand plans that would be a huge shot in the arm to Hull and the East Riding’s economy.

Robert Jenrick, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, has now given it his blessing.

Stephen Parnaby OBE, interim chair of the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership, has supported the scheme from its infancy.

He said: “I am delighted to hear that the Government has given the Yorkshire Energy Park the go-ahead.

“Schemes such as this and the much-needed A63 Castle Street improvements announced earlier this week will play a significant role in the region’s recovery post- Covid-19.
