A Laceby lad - now North East Lincolnshire’s first citizen - was invited to launch a 100-home housing development on the countryside he roamed as a child.

Cllr David Hasthorpe was the guest of honour as Allison Homes launched the Bishops Grange development in the village, unveiling the show home as sales begin.

Located off Blyth Way, it features a range of two, three, four and five bedroom homes.

Cutting the ribbon, Cllr Hasthorpe said: “It was a pleasure to be asked to open the Bishops Grange development in Laceby, by Allison Homes. As a recognised 'Laceby lad', it was all the more poignant, as I remember roaming the countryside around this area whilst growing up in Laceby from 1961 onwards.

“The Mayoress and I were grateful for the welcome afforded to us by a very knowledgeable staff of builders, sales people, interior designers and directors.”

He was told how the development is already breaking sales targets, despite the restrictions of the pandemic, with all the sales so far being conducted off-plan.

Samantha Hart, sales and marketing director at Bourne-based Allison Homes, said: “We are delighted to have officially launched Bishops Grange, and having the Mayor open the development to the public was a real honour.
