A new £5.5m industrial park is set to be created in Northumberland by a Yorkshire developer.
Barnsley-based Priority Space has snapped up a four-acre plot on an empty brownfield site in Cramlington, triggering plans for the development of 30 industrial units.
The commercial property and regeneration company aims to transform the vacant site, on the edge of the town’s established industrial estate, into nearly 60,000 square feet of purpose-built industrial and warehousing workspace.
The multi-million pound development will serve up 30 speculative business units, available to buy or let by small and medium-sized business. Planning permission is currently being sought for the scheme, and pending approval, Priority Space hopes to start work on site in 2022.

Lee Buchanan, director of Priority Space, said: “We look forward very much to investing in this scheme and bringing 30 new industrial units to this prime location in Cramlington.
“We are committed to developing high-quality and sustainable workplaces where companies can invest in their businesses and contribute to the economic regeneration of their local area. We’re very pleased to be adding Cramlington to our North East portfolio.”
The developer is currently working on commercial property schemes in Darlington, Redcar and Consett, all due for completion in the next 18 months.
It purchased the four acres of development land on the junction of Baker Road and Nelson Road in Cramlington from Homes England, and the plan is to transform the plot, which has lain empty for decades, into a development of business units ranging in size from 1,750 sq ft to 2,250 sq ft – creating a total of 57,630 ft of new workspace.
Mr Buchanan added: “We know there is demand for units of this size in the area and look forward to the development supporting SME’s ambitions and Cramlington’s economic growth.”
