x+why agrees deal for second Birmingham office hub

Flexible workspace provider has teamed up with landlord Hines to run the new facility on the Brindleyplace estate

6 Brindleyplace is set to welcome a new x+why co-working facility early next year

Flexible workspace provider x+why has agreed a deal to open a second base in Birmingham.

The London-based company will be opening a facility on the Brindleyplace estate after agreeing a joint venture with landlord Hines to operate 40,000 sq ft in 6 Brindleyplace.

It follows the news in July that it had signed a lease to operate 31,500 sq ft at the new 103 Colmore Row office block which is due to open once construction of the 26-storey building completes.

As part of the agreement, Hines and x+why will invest jointly in the new Brindleyplace facility which will provide space for hot desking and private offices of various sizes.

There will also be areas for video calls and phone booths, collaborative spaces, communal lounge facilities and meeting rooms.

Rupert Dean, chief executive of x+why, said: "When we have been looking for options outside of London to expand our business, it was important to us we chose locations which gave us the best opportunity to meet our targets and provide spaces which go far beyond only providing space in which to work.

"We know the office is not just about a place to be from 9 to 5pm but a place to build culture, learning, mentorship, collaboration and fun.
