Construction work is about to start on a “new community” of 86 homes in a Devon town after the success of a previous housing scheme.

David Wilson Homes has been granted planning permission to build the houses at Fairfax Heath, on the edge of , following the “unprecedented” success of its Braid Park development, where all 60 David Wilson Homes properties have been sold and only 24 of the 120 Barratt Homes remain for sale.

The community at Braid Park is now well established, with people living in almost all of the David Wilson Homes and more than half of the Barratt Homes occupied. David Wilson Homes is part of Barratt Developments PLC, a FTSE 100 company.

Surrounded by country parks and situated to the North of Braid Park, Fairfax Heath will introduce a new range of David Wilson Homes to the area, centred around modern, open-plan living, high levels of energy efficiency and access to outside space.

Made up of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes, the new development outside the historic market town of Tiverton will offer another chance to move into the popular new community for those who missed out on the David Wilson Homes at Braid Park, the developer said.

It said the wide variety of homes on offer will help to create a balanced, mixed community suitable for first-time buyers, growing families and people downsizing or retiring.

The new community at Fairfax Heath and Braid Park will be in a semi-rural location within close reach of the town centre. The design and layout of both developments will ensure easy access to large areas of open, green space which has become increasingly important for so many people during the past 18 months characterised by the Covid pandemic. Children's play areas feature on both developments along with woodland areas at Fairfax Heath.
