Construction has commenced on a £20m project to convert the Sale Point office block into 79 upscale apartments. The redevelopment at the site by the M56 is being undertaken by Blueoak Estates, known for their luxury and eco-friendly residential projects.

Originally constructed in the 1970s, Sale Point boasts over 50,000 sq ft of space spread across six floors, with plans for one and two-bedroom apartments, each accompanied by on-site parking facilities. Blueoak has observed a surge in Sale's popularity as a residential area, resulting in increased 'higher demand' for housing, particularly among first-time buyers seeking apartments.

A show home is set to open in May this year, with the initial group of new residents expected to start moving in from September. Iain MacLean, Blueoak's managing director, said: "It's great to see work begin at Sale Point, a really impressive scheme that offers quality living within a good location, catering largely to the first-time buyer, keen to be part of the merging Sale property market.

"We continue to be proud of our ambitious and innovative business model that sees Blueoak transform neglected and abandoned commercial buildings, in strong locations, and repurpose them for modern-day residential purposes. We see Manchester as an increasingly important area for our business and continue to explore opportunities across the wider city."
