Work on a new 202-bedroom Hilton in Bath is nearing the "finishing line", according to the global hotel group.

The Hampton by Hilton hotel, being built on Avon Street, has had its highest structural feature completed in a so-called 'topping out' ceremony.

The six-storey hotel is being developed by Dominvs Group and built by McAleer & Rushe, and is expected to open in early 2022.

The finished hotel will include a bar, restaurant and gym at street level. According to Dominvs, the building façade has been designed to maintain and complement the character and architecture of the area.

Nick Smart, of Hilton Worldwide, said: “Despite what has been a challenging year, we are proud of our partners and their perseverance to bring the project to this stage. The finish line is in sight and this hotel will be a shining light in our portfolio and the historic city of Bath."

Jay Ahluwalia, director of Dominvs Group, said the project supported the Bath spatial strategy to bring more hotels to the city and the development of intricate and contemporary buildings.

He said: “We are thrilled to celebrate this significant milestone for our Hampton by Hilton hotel in Bath.

"This past year has been extremely difficult for the industry and reaching this point in the development ahead of schedule, is testament to the brilliant individuals and teams working across the project.
