Work on one of Birmingham's tallest buildings has completed.

The second phase of The Bank, in Broad Street, is 33 storeys tall and comprises 217 apartments and a gym along with ground-floor retail space.

It completes the project on the site which was once tabled to have a 56-storey project called Regal Tower which never came to fruition.

The second tower has been built by Wates Construction with Aprirose as owner and funder and Warwickshire-based Regal Property Group as developer.

The first phase was finished in 2018 and contains 189 apartments across 22 storeys.

Mark Holbeche, who runs Regal Property Group with his father Roger, said: "When we set out to create The Bank with Aprirose, we wanted to fashion a striking development which would set the standard for quality apartments in the heart of the city and we're extremely proud of the homes we have created here.

"A real sense of community has developed already in the first building and we're only expecting this to improve when we open the doors to the second tower which will also mark the opening of many of the communal spaces which all of residents can enjoy.

"The development has been a great success and we are looking at further opportunities to provide new homes in the city."
