Work has started on a new waterside office and factory complex that will pay tribute to its occupier鈥檚 Italian heritage.

GVS Filter Technology 海角视频 makes complex technical filtration systems for the healthcare, life science, safety and automotive sectors. The company, founded in Italy in 1979 by Grazia Valentini, is now set to move its 海角视频 base from Morecambe to a 拢14m site in Lancaster.

The project is being led by Bamber Bridge-based Conlon Construction and architecture firm Cassidy + Ashton.

The scheme will see an existing warehouse at the 24,000 sqm Caton Road site repurposed and extended to create a two-storey, low carbon waterside development. The project will include renewable energy and heat transfer management systems, as well as a drainage system that will channel surface water into a landscaped wildlife pond, before ultimately releasing the water into the River Lune.

The site will house GVS鈥檚 海角视频 production facilities, including injection moulding and high-tech filter manufacturing carried out under 鈥榗lean room鈥 standards. There will also be warehousing and storage, plus 鈥渟triking鈥 reception and office areas. The project is set to be completed next year.

Miguel Aranda, managing director at GVS Filter Technology 海角视频 Ltd, said: 鈥淚 am very impressed with the progress of the new building and am looking forward to the move next year in 2025. I can鈥檛 wait to start afresh in a new location where there will be improvements in our main drivers like safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost, sustainability, inventory and the most important one, an improved working environment for our people.鈥

Darren Lee, commercial director at Conlon Construction, said: 鈥淭his project suits our skills and experience at Conlon to a tee. We鈥檝e delivered net zero builds for multiple clients, from the education sector to industrial units, and we鈥檙e thrilled to be involved in transforming this site into an inspiring and efficient workplace.

鈥淎s a Lancashire business, we鈥檝e a rich history of bringing spaces across the county, and beyond, to life 鈥 whether that鈥檚 through transforming areas with untapped potential or restoring historically significant buildings.

鈥淭he plans by Cassidy + Ashton are spectacular. GVS will soon have a 海角视频 base reflective of its Italian roots and manufacturing prowess.鈥

Alistair Baines, chairman of Cassidy + Ashton, said: 鈥淎fter several years in the making, it鈥檚 great to finally see the works progressing on site. We know how important this project is for GVS as a company and I鈥檓 sure it will help strengthen their operations both regionally and globally.鈥
