Warrington Borough Council has issued a statement after being asked if it has decided to sell Birchwood Park.

It was reported in May that the Labour-run authority is set to consider offers for a 'possible disposal' of the office and business hub

A proposal related to the site was approved by the council's cabinet at its meeting in April.

The minutes for the cabinet meeting in April were later published and provided further details.

They said: "The report sought approval to fund a marketing exercise for Birchwood Park to consider offers for a possible disposal and appoint agents for this purpose. This is not a proposal to sell Birchwood Park at this stage.

"It also sought delegated authority to appoint property agents and external legal advisors. Any disposal of the property would be subject to a further cabinet report following a marketing exercise, due diligence and formal heads of terms. Any disposal of the property is proposed for economic regeneration, growth, debt reduction and financial capital receipt purposes."

The council has been asked if it has decided to sell the site.

In response, a spokesman said: "We consistently review the market and what may constitute best value for any of our assets.
