A land deal has been struck which is expected to lead to a huge new residential development in the West Midlands.
Housebuilder Vistry has acquired the 343-acre former Rugeley Power Station site in Staffordshire and now plans to build up to 2,300 new houses.
The brownfield site was sold by French energy group ENGIE in an undisclosed deal.
Following the closure of the power station in 2016, the site underwent demolition and remediation work and was granted outline planning permission for 2,300 new homes in 2021.

The development will also include a new school, riverside park and commercial space while the homes will be a mix of tenures including affordable, rented and open-market sale.
Vestry Group's chief executive Greg Fitzgerald said: "This major acquisition perfectly plays to the strengths of the group - regenerating a large brownfield site into thousands of high-quality, mixed tenure homes while using our placemaking skills to create a thriving new neighbourhood."
Michael Moore, managing director of Vistry North West Midlands, said: "This is an important development that will contribute to Rugeley's economic growth, providing both new jobs and high-quality places to live.
"Like many areas of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, Rugeley has a severe shortage of housing and that's something we're aiming to address by delivering affordable and social rent homes, as well as rental and open market homes and crucially delivering them at pace."
ENGIE's º£½ÇÊÓƵ chief executive Miya Paolucci added: "Rugeley Power Station played an important role in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ's energy history and we have been proud to remediate the site and lead its transformation into a place focused on sustainability, community, and opportunity.
"We are pleased to confirm the transfer of the site to Vistry which will continue to deliver our vision of a beautiful and sustainable community asset."
