Village Hotels owner KSL weighing up sale as Morgan Stanley hired

The owner of the Village Hotels chain is considering offloading the brand.

KSL Capital Partners has hired Morgan Stanley to advise on the potential sale of the Warrington-headquartered business.

The US-based giant has owned Village Hotels since 2014 after snapping it up in a deal reported to be worth £485m.

Village Hotels, which was founded in 1995, has a portfolio of 33 sites from Aberdeen to Bournemouth.

For its latest financial year, Village Hotels saw its turnover jump from £139.9m to £227.6m while its pre-tax profits were cut from £40.9m to £17.8m.

It also created almost 1,000 jobs in 2022 after it shed 870 jobs in 2021 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The chain has hotels in Aberdeen, Ashton Moss, Basingstoke, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Bracknell, Bristol, Bury, Cardiff, Cheadle, Coventry, Dudley, Edinburgh, Farnborough, Glasgow, Hyde, Hull, Leeds, Liverpool, Watford, Maidstone, Newcastle, Portsmouth, Chester, Solihull, Southampton, Swansea, Swindon, Walsall, Warrington and on the Wirral.
