Up to 500 jobs could be created on 413,000 sq ft industrial site between Nottingham and Sheffield

Space could appeal to distribution and “last mile” urban logistics companies

Commercial Estates Group and HBD want to build industrial units at Penniment Farm, near Mansfield

Developers say up to 500 jobs could be created at a new industrial site they want to build between Nottingham and Sheffield.

Commercial Estates Group (CEG) and property developer HBD have submitted plans for almost 413,000 sq ft of employment space on a 29 acre site near Mansfield.

The developers say the greenfield site, near Penniment Farm, on the western edge of Mansfield, is allocated within the District council’s local plan for residential and employment use, with homes already going up.

They said the full application includes a range of new commercial space, including light industrial, storage and distribution, with new woodland and green spaces.

They said the development could create over 500 new jobs, including distribution, skilled and semi-skilled light industrial roles, along with training and apprenticeship opportunities throughout its construction.

The site lies close to junctions 28 and 29 of the M1, and near to A617/Mansfield and Ashfield Regeneration Route.

They said the space could appeal to distribution and “last mile” urban logistics companies and, subject to planning, work could start early next year.

Lawrence Escott, investment manager from CEG, said: “We have worked on the Penniment Farm development for many years and new homes are already being delivered at the site.
