The º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s biggest university accommodation provider has completed a £45m development in Bristol.

Unite Students, which is headquartered in the city but runs properties around the country, has said the six-storey Campbell House will provide 431 beds.

Covering 109,000 sq ft, the building is located on Whitson Street in between The Bearpit roundabout and Bristol Royal Infirmary, and sits on the site of a former Georgian hospital.

The new facility, which is named after one of Bristol’s first Black ward sisters - Princess Campbell - features a gym, cinema, karaoke room, dedicated study spaces, as well as indoor and outdoor social spaces.

Unite Students’ group property director Nick Hayes said: “Unite Students has a long-standing presence in Bristol and we are excited to open another new development in the city where we started out. Bristol remains a key regional city for us as a thriving student city, with more than 60,000 students.

“Campbell House reflects our commitment to sustainability - both in terms of construction, operations and provides a great backdrop to promote sustainable living habits among our students.”

Bosses at Unite Students said in July they were confident of continued growth despite the pressure of the cost of living crisis on students and their families.

In a trading update for the first half of the current financial year, the firm reported reservations for the 2022-2023 academic year were ahead of pre-pandemic levels.
