Three new city landmarks compete for 2023 ProCon Leicestershire regeneration award

The new St Margaret’s bus station, Hotel Brooklyn and a University of Leicester student village are all finalists

Three landmark buildings seeking to rejuvenate their Leicester locations have been picked as finalists in the Regeneration Project of the Year in the 2023 ProCon Leicestershire property and construction awards.

The new St Margaret’s bus station, Hotel Brooklyn and a University of Leicester student village are the finalists in this category, which is sponsored by Keepmoat Homes and is one of eight in this year’s 20 th anniversary awards.

The awards’ overall sponsors are Unique Window Systems, Freeths and Salus Approved Inspectors. The Leicester Mercury is the Awards’ media partner.

The Regeneration Project of the Year finalists are:

The new Hotel Brooklyn (pictured above) has transformed its gateway site from a car park into a destination for guests, visitors and Leicester Tigers supporters.

Various schemes had been proposed for the triangular parcel of land which was previously home to the Granby Halls venue.

In consultation with the Tigers and the City Council, a new public realm space was created as a fan zone for rugby fans before and after matches at the adjacent stadium.
