A new purpose-built student block in Bristol city centre has achieved practical completion, the developers behind the project have said.

The 260-bed scheme at Gas Lane was developed by Watkin Jones and was forward funded by Hines on behalf of the Hines European Property Partners Fund (‘HEPP’).

The scheme includes 219 en-suite bedrooms and 41 self-contained studios, alongside shared amenities including a communal lounge and a landscaped roof terrace.

The building will be operated by Aparto, HEPP’s full-service student living platform.

Gwyn Pritchard, managing director – construction, Watkin Jones, said: “We are delighted to have recently marked the practical completion of our Gas Lane scheme, delivering new, high-quality homes for students in one of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s leading university cities.

"This project underlines our commitment to creating sustainable places to live that enhance wellbeing and community, and we thank Hines, Bristol City Council and our supply chain partners for their collaboration in bringing this scheme to life that was delivered on schedule for the beginning of the 2025/26 academic year.”

The Gas Lane building is located next to the University of Bristol’s new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus and is less than half a mile from Bristol Temple Meads station.

The scheme has strong sustainability credentials, achieving BREEAM Excellent and WiredScore Platinum certifications.
