St Modwen unveils new chief executive

Mark Allan will join the Birmingham regeneration specialist from student accommodation provider Unite

Mark Allan has been unveiled as the new chief executive of St Modwen

The head of a specialist student accommodation developer has been appointed as the new chief executive of Birmingham-based regeneration group

Mark Allan will join the listed firm in December from his current role as chief executive of Unite Group which runs four developments in Birmingham near Aston University.

He will succeed Bill Oliver who announced

Mr Allan has been chief executive of Unite since 2006.

He joined the company in 1999 from financial services firm KPMG and has held a number of roles including chief financial officer from 2003 to 2006.

Mr Allan is a qualified chartered accountant and a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

He also serves as a trustee director on the non-executive board of Anchor Trust, a not-for-profit provider of housing and care for older people.

St Modwen's chairman Bill Shannon said: "Mark has an impressive track record and is highly regarded in the listed property sector.
