JD Group is poised to commence construction on its state-of-the-art new campus near Bury, following last year's green light to build a headquarters that aims to compete with the likes of 'Facebook, Google and Nike'. The project promises space for 2,000 employees and includes a crèche capable of accommodating 120 children.
The sports and leisure company has hailed this development as 'a pinnacle moment in our company's history', emphasising the need to pour millions into its Pilsworth Road campus to foster an environment that attracts top talent and stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the facilities of global brands and tech giants. The retailer has now revealed plans for the second phase of the development, which features a hub building complete with a substantial gym, reports .
With over 60,000 staff across 29 countries, JD Group is a major player in the industry. A recent design and access statement submitted to Bury Council outlines further details of the upcoming phase, noting: "Our Bury headquarters is currently operating out of three buildings on the Pilsworth Road site where we employ around 1,300 people, making us one of the largest employers in Bury."

It adds, "Refurbishment of the existing office space is already underway to bring the working environment in line with contemporary standards. The proposal seeks to bring together the various elements of the existing campus into one focal point in the centre of the site, whilst responding to the context of the wider campus development and beyond."
"The development of the hub building introduces an atrium which joins two wings with glazed façade. A bridge connects the two wings and provides circulation across the main atrium."
The site of the new structure, formerly an industrial area known as 'A-Plant,' is situated to the west of the remaining JD campus. It boasts views of Hollins Vale Nature Reserve to the south and fronts Pilsworth Road to the north.
The report added: "Development of the 'A-plant' site presents an exciting opportunity to complete the campus."
