Staff mark the start of construction work on the Upper Trinity Street residential and commercial scheme in Digbeth, Birmingham

Construction work has started on a major new residential and commercial project in Birmingham.

Upper Trinity Street in Digbeth is being led by developer Cole Waterhouse and main contractor Caddick Construction in partnership with Taurus Investment and Housing Growth Partnership.

Due for completion in spring 2027, the 182,986 sq ft Upper Trinity Street scheme will comprise 211 apartments, a public park, flexible workspace known as Makers Yard and Adderley Yard, a new venue for leisure and urban events.

Ray O'Sullivan, Midlands managing director of Caddick Construction, said: "The redevelopment of brownfield land is an extremely valuable way of meeting growing demand for housing and regeneration projects of this nature bring much more than homes for local people.

"Once complete, the scheme is set to be a catalyst for growth and investment in Birmingham, but more specifically the Digbeth area, and we look forward to bringing our expertise in high-rise residential to this fantastic scheme for Cole Waterhouse."

Simon Gallanders, managing director of residential at Cole Waterhouse, added: "The excellent progress Caddick have achieved on site marks a significant milestone in the regeneration of the area."
