Gloucester-based developer Newland Homes has acquired a site in Semington, Wiltshire, where 24 new homes are set to be built.

Work on the development of four- and five-bedroom detached homes and three-bedroom bungalows at the five-acre site is expected to begin next year.

The scheme will include seven affordable homes and 14 allotments, with the properties set to be constructed using technology to help homeowners reduce their carbon footprint.

Each home will be heated with air source heat pumps instead of gas boilers and will feature solar panels to generate electricity as well as high levels of insulation to help deliver energy savings.

Car charging points for hybrid or fully electric cars will also be pre-wired within the new homes.

Newland homes, which is based in Brighouse Court in Barwood, Gloucester, has previously been recognised for its work in Wiltshire, having won the Trowbridge Town Enhancement Award on three occasions.

Simon Richardson, associate land director for Newland Homes, said: “This is an outstanding site in a pretty Wiltshire village centred around the canal, and our scheme has been designed to reflect the rural setting whilst providing the next generation of environmentally-friendly homes. It is another first-rate project we are excited to be bringing forward.”
