Seven Capital to invest £100m-plus warchest

Company behind several city schemes unveils war chest to continue investment in city where it is only 'scratching the surface'

Seven Capital, which is behind the Park Regis hotel development in Five Ways, says it has £100m to spend

Prolific city development firm Seven Capital is set to invest at least £100 million in regional property next year after securing a £60 million deal on a London hotel.

Seven Capital is developing a string of Birmingham properties amid plans to build 5,000 homes in the city centre - and is promising to keep investing next year.

The firm has a £100 million-plus war chest after agreeing a forward funding deal with Middle Eastern investors on its hotel development in London's trendy Shoreditch market.

Managing director Phil Carlin told the Post that London remained a focus for the firm but Birmingham was its regional capital and the "nucleus" of its investment plans.

The firm has in the city this year but Mr Carlin expects to do even more in 2015.

He said: "We are starting to come out of a couple of projects we have invested in in London.

"There is at least £100 million that we can reinvest into new projects. London is still booming but we are looking for opportunities elsewhere and we see Birmingham as a fantastic place to invest.

"We are only scratching the surface of what we want to do at present. We want to do something quite special next year and already have a number of opportunities on our radar."
