Selly Oak retail park signs household names

M&S Simply Food and TK Maxx among those to take space at Battery Retail Park with companies expected to be in situ by the end of the year

A host of retailers have signed up for more than an acre of space in a deal which significantly boosts an out-of-town retail park.

M&S Simply Food, TK Maxx, Sports Direct, Pets at Home and Poundland are all set to be added to the Battery Retail Park in

All five are under offer and should move in before the end of the year, according to a brochure produced by land owner Hammerson.

It marks a major turnaround for the park, with more than 50,000 sq ft of the total 140,000 sq ft scheme set to be taken up by household names.

It leaves just one unit to let at the park which borders Sainsbury's and the life sciences development.

The park, which is four miles out of the city centre, opened in 1990 and underwent work recently which saw Homebase move to a larger unit in March 2014.

That followed a takeover deal by Hammerson, which also co-owns Bullring, in 2010.

Hammerson, which already owned 25 per cent of the park, has acquired the remainder in a £49.5 million deal.
