A South West self-storage firm has opened a new facility in Cornwall following a period of rapid expansion.
Britannia Lanes secured funding from Lloyds Bank for the new site in Hayle, which has undergone extensive refurbishment. The business used the loan to carry out renovations and a refit between January and November last year.
It is the latest addition to the company's growing network of self-storage facilities, which includes existing sites in Truro, Falmouth and Exeter. The business, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, is planning to open a fifth facility in St Austell in 2026.

The Hayle site has a range of storage units from 15 sq ft for to 250 sq ft, and has been upgraded from an EPC E to B rating, using enhanced cladding panels to boost insulation and improve energy performance. The company has also made sustainability upgrades to its Falmouth site.

Britannia Lanes was founded 1974, starting with a facility in Launceston. After a short period, the business entered into the removal industry before re-entering self-storage the sector with the opening of its Truro site 27 years later in 2001.
The business is now led by the second and third generations of the founding family, with plans to push further growth across Devon and Cornwall.
