The second phase of a new Waterside Village in Loughborough is now complete and opening its doors to new residents.

Work has finished on the multimillion-pound apartment complex, called The Gate, which sits at the heart of Loughborough’s new residential complex, off Nottingham Road and a short walk to the town railway station.

The Gate was designed by Leicestershire based HSSP Architects for Solus Homes, and has 64 apartments, a resident’s gymnasium, indoor swimming pool, co-working space, a canal side garden and concierge services.

It forms part of the Waterside Village development, alongside its sister scheme The Mill, built inside a former Victorian hosiery mill which dates back to 1889, which has 76 one and two-bedroom luxury homes.

Richard Cooper, a director at RIBA Chartered Architects HSSP, said: “It’s fantastic to see this ambitious project come to fruition.

“The project began in the middle of a pandemic with all trades working incredibly hard to finish the project to a high standard despite the challenging circumstances.

“Through our design, we’ve been able to invoke the feeling of bygone times with careful selection of materials and details, and complemented these with stunning modern features that impeccably fuse the historic elements to the new.

“It truly is a unique development which we know will form a happy, healthy and inspiring place for people to live and work.”
