Sandbrook Park, one of Rochdale's largest industrial and retail parks, is set to expand.
The park south of the town centre, which houses local businesses and major retailers such as McDonald's, Odeon cinema and Pizza Hut, is to be expanded by Northern Trust Company Ltd.
Following approval of planning permission, nine new industrial units will be constructed along Sandbrook Way from the retail park. These flexible units, spread across four buildings on vacant land in the north eastern corner of the business park, will offer a total floorspace of 16,614 sq ft, and will be aimed at start-up and local businesses.

The northern section of the site will host blocks A and B, housing seven units, while the remaining units will be situated in blocks C and D to the south of the site. An additional 50 parking spaces are also planned.
Planning documents state: "The proposal will help to support economic growth and prosperity of the borough and build on the success of the existing development at Sandbrook Park.
"In allowing a variety of small scale uses to be accommodated, the site will provide greater opportunities for more local businesses.
"The proposal is a positive development that supports local businesses within Rochdale and provides employment opportunities for local residents."
