A 43-bedroom hotel in the Rhondda Valleys in south Wales is under new ownership after it was acquired by a private buyer for an undisclosed sum. The Heritage Park Hotel in Pontypridd has been sold to the Zaman family.

The 3-star hotel will be managed and operated by Manchester-based group Brilliant Hotels. It joins the group’s existing portfolio of other properties in Manchester, Cheltenham, Sheffield, Rochdale, Chorley and Crewe.

The hotel, currently under refurbishment, is situated alongside the Welsh mining experience at Rhondda Heritage, which was historically the old mining site of Lewis Merthyr Colliery. It also has an adjoining bar and restaurant called Loft with 100 covers.

Brilliant Hotels’ managing director Anoob Saban said: “I am delighted to welcome The Heritage Park Hotel to the Brilliant Hotels Collection. It provides an excellent opportunity to showcase the Brilliant standards and service. The property will be a valuable addition to our existing portfolio, and we are committing to the growth and development of this prestigious hotel.”

The sale was handled by property agents, Colliers. Peter Brunt, director of Colliers’ hotels agency team said: “The Heritage Park Hotel is tremendously successful with both the business community and locals with its flexible function facilities being particularly popular for weddings. Its location close to Cardiff and sandwiched between the Brecon Beacons and the coast attracts a wide range of guests from a large catchment area.

“Having sold the property to the outgoing owners in 2005, it is fantastic to be able to help them secure new owners and welcome in a new chapter for the hotel. The sale demonstrates that good hotel assets continue to attract buyers.”
