A Northumberland estate agency has been acquired by a major regional operator.

Pattinson Estate Agency has taken over Cramlington-based Ryedales Estate Agents after the owners decided to retire, having traded for more than 35 years. The two firms were operating in tandem until November 30, with the official takeover starting today.

Ryedales’ owners Geoff and Lynne Stockdale said: “It is with regret that after over 35 years we announce our reluctant retirement due to ongoing health issues. We would like to reassure our customers, whether sellers or landlords, that they will continue to receive the same high level of service without any inconvenience and disruption.

“We have made the decision to transfer the estate agency business to Pattinson Estate Agency, including all listed properties, ongoing sales and lettings, with effect from December 1, 2023. To assist with the smooth transfer, there will be a transitional period between 20th and 30th November 2023, where Ryedales and Pattinson Estate Agency will be operating in tandem. And finally, we would like to thank all our loyal customers past and present, for their support and faith over the decades.”

Managing director of Pattinson Estate Agency, Caroline Pattinson, said she recognised just how trusted a name Ryedales has been in the Cramlington area and that existing and potential customers can expect the same level of dedication, expertise, and professionalism from the company’s new owner.

Ms Pattinson said: “Whilst we are sad to see the end of an era with Geoff and Lynne’s retirement, we are more than happy to ensure that this is a smooth transition for their clients. Estate agents work together more than people would think, and we have had a good working relationship with the Ryedales team for a long time.

“Geoff and Lynne have placed a great deal in trust in passing across their clients to us, they have focused on offering an excellent service and we were delighted that they chose us to carry that on. Our neighbouring branch in Cramlington will become the new point of contact for sellers on the market, with our sales progression team assisting those sellers who are currently under offer and the property management team working with landlords.
