Public consultation to launch into £3bn Arden Cross scheme

West Midlands chiefs are inviting comments into the major scheme which aims to tap into the benefits of the HS2 Interchange station

The public are being asked for their views on the proposed £3bn Arden Cross project in Solihull

A public consultation will launch next week for the £3 billion Arden Cross project in Solihull.

The scheme has been created to maximise the benefits of the new HS2 Interchange station east of Birmingham Airport which received planning consent this week.

The long-term aim for Arden Cross is to create a new commercial and residential hub which could comprise up to 3,000 new homes and six million sq ft of commercial space which will support 27,000 jobs.

The site covers more than 340 acres next to the M42 and regional chiefs claim it could add £1 billion a year to the local economy.

There will also be people mover connecting Interchange with the airport, NEC campus and Birmingham International station.

Interchange is one of four new stations planned for the first phase of HS2 between London and Birmingham and will sit at the heart of Arden Cross.

The site will neighbour other facilities of immense economic significance to the West Midlands including Resorts World, Birmingham Business Park and Jaguar Land Rover - a cluster area collectively known as 'The Hub'.
