Property investor acquires retail space at Merry Hill

Columbia Threadneedle Real Estate has bought two phases of retail park

Merry Hill Retail Park, Brierley Hill

An investment firm has acquired part of a Black Country retail park.

London-based Columbia Threadneedle Real Estate has bought phases two and three of Merry Hill Retail Park in Brierley Hill.

The property comprises 197,000 sq ft of retail warehouse and restaurant space on a site that extends to almost 15 acres with approximately 600 free parking spaces.

Incumbent tenants include The Range, Currys, Wren Kitchens, DFS and Pets at Home on the site next door to the famous Merry Hill shop centre.

Merry Hill Retail Park has almost 500,000 sq ft of food, convenience and homeware retailers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Tom Elviss, fund manager at Columbia Threadneedle Real Estate, said: "The simultaneous acquisition of both phases two and three at Merry Hill Retail Park from two separate vendors constitutes a majority holding at one of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ's dominant retail warehouse clusters in the West Midlands.

"This presents a significant opportunity to maximise the assets' potential under single ownership.
