A private university has launched a new study centre in central Birmingham.

Arden University has opened the educational hub at ‘Lock 14', the rebranded commercial space which once housed bars Mechu and Texan Roadhouse in Summer Row.

It is the institute's second base in Birmingham after it opened in Hill Street in 2017.

The new 20,000 sq ft site offers flexible, online and blended learning and has been officially opened by Bradly Sinden, the taekwondo fighter who won silver at last year's Olympics while also studying at Arden.

He was joined by Arden University's chief innovation and commercial officer Vitaly Klopot, dean of business Dilshad Sheikh and dean of STEM Georgina Harris.

Mr Klopot said: "We're incredibly excited to be expanding our footprint in Birmingham with the launch of our new flagship study centre on Summer Row.

"The city and the wider West Midlands region is home to an increasing range of successful businesses and organisations, from innovative technology start-ups to large-scale financial organisations.
