Ancoats could see the addition of two towering skyscrapers, after plans for more than 750 flats were unveiled. The ambitious project, proposed by developers Liquid Funding Business (LFB), involves two towers reaching a combined height of 67 storeys, set to transform the current location of Stockton's furniture store at the junction of Store Street and Great Ancoats Street.

The LFB proposal, which aligns with Manchester council's regeneration goals for the area, includes 758 flats spread across the two buildings and offers 45,000 sq ft of commercial space. One tower is planned to be 47 storeys high, while the other will stand at 25 storeys.

"We are thrilled to present our vision for the future of Ancoats," Daniel Green from LFB said. "This development represents a significant investment in the area, providing much-needed housing and commercial opportunities while enhancing the public realm.

"Our development will complement the proposals for Central Retail Park as well as set the standard for future developments coming forward in the area. We encourage the community to participate in the consultation process and share their valuable insights to help us create a development that truly reflects the needs and aspirations of Ancoats."

The Manchester council had previously outlined its vision for the area in the 'East Village strategic regeneration framework' released two years ago, which details the criteria new developments must meet to secure planning permission, reports .

The proposals include a maximum height of 45-storeys, with an aim for 30 to 40 percent of the site to be openly-accessible public realm. The LFB plan proposes 55 percent.

However, the towers have not yet received planning permission and a planning application is still to be submitted. LFB has initiated a public consultation on these proposals.
