Veterinary services provider CVS Group is set to open a new specialist hospital for small animals in Bristol which will employ more than 100 people.

The Bristol Vets Specialists facility will be based at Central Park in Avonmouth and will feature state-of-the art diagnostic and advanced radiotherapy equipment unavailable anywhere else in England for the treatment of pets with cancer.

The new unit will facilitate the development of new and emerging treatments, and will operate as a flagship regional hub for pet owners across the South West, Midlands and Wales.

It will provide CVS, which operates around 500 practices across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, Ireland and The Netherlands, with an upgraded specialist referral facility in Bristol, with its current site on Wells Road now at capacity and limited in scope for expanding its services.

The group has been granted planning permission and is now appointing building contractors with a view to developing the site and opening by summer 2022.

The business said the new hospital would employ some of the most qualified and experienced veterinary professionals in Europe, and bring new recruitment and training opportunities to Bristol and the South West.

As well as the latest technology and treatments in disciplines including general surgery, spinal surgery and dentistry, the hospital will offer stereotactic radiotherapy that allows for pet treatment plans to be compressed into days rather than weeks.
