Plans for a near  residential development in Swansea from family-run housebuilder Llanmoor Homes can be revealed.

In the biggest residential scheme ever seen in Swansea, the Pontyclun-based firm already has secured outline planning consent for the first phase of its freehold Pentref Rhostir scheme on former low grade agricultural land at Llangyfelach close junction 46 of the M4.

The first phase would see 470 residential dwellings.

The £350m development, with prices ranging from £130,000 up to around £300,000 for five bedroom three-storey houses, would be developed in phases over the next 15 to 20 years.

The authority’s local development plan (LDP), which was adopted last autumn following Welsh Government approval, has identified the site for a major housing development to address new housing need.

The scheme would cover an area of 240 acres, of which more than 100 acres will be dedicated public space.

As a condition of planning Llanmoor Homes will invest around £20m in providing and maintaining public spaces, foot and cycle paths, sporting pitches, a new near mile long road through the development and a primary school.

It will also provide £1m towards the provision of an on-site bus service.
