Owners of a huge new office development in Bristol city centre have released images revealing what the site could look like.

The Distillery is currently behind construction hoardings in the Glassfields area of Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone and includes two buildings of 92,000 sq ft with a top height of nine storeys.

The development was commissioned by investment company Royal London Asset Management and is set to open in the summer.

The design draws on the site’s history as the former glassmaking district, according to the company, with its name coming from the discovery of centuries-old gin bottles in the ground.

The Distillery will have a ‘living wall’ containing more than 15 gin botanicals, in a nod to its history, while the copper design represents a gin still and the piping mirrors the distillery process, according to Royal London.

The development is also set to have a number of eco features such as PV panels, 100 bike parking spaces, two electric car charging points and smart LED lighting, in a bid to gain top sustainability credentials including the BREAAM excellent and Fit Well accreditation.

As part of the development, a glass-roofed street with a lawn area is being built to connect the two buildings, which will also provide a place for social gatherings, lunchtime hangouts and group meetings.
