Permission given for Grade A office development near Nottingham Train Station

It will provide space for more than 1,100 workers

A Grade A glass-fronted office block will be built on derelict land near  , it has been confirmed.

Nottingham City Council granted planning permission for the seven-storey development, which will be named Crocus Place, in the city's southside area.

The decision will transform the vacant site next to the tram lines at Nottingham Train Station and will provide space for an estimated 1,150 workers, .

It is is the latest proposal for the Southside area, along with Unity Square, Station Street and City Buildings transforming the area with construction underway or due to begin by the end of the year.

The building, which is 125,000sq ft, is set to be built on land which was formerly an operations base for the tram extension.

The approved plans will also have 30 standard car parking bays, two disabled parking bays, four electric vehicle parking bays, 115 cycle parking spaces and four spaces for motorcycles.

The development is expected to open in summer 2021.

The scheme will use solar panels, air source heat pumps and electric car charging points to help minimise energy usage.
