A huge office block that will include a ticket office for the new train station next to the Bristol Arena development is set to be built.

Malaysian-headquartered developer YTL has received planning approval for the landmark Grade A office building at Brabazon in Filton.

Initial construction work on the train station started earlier this year and is expected to complete in 2026, connecting through to Bristol Temple Meads in less than 15 minutes.

The office development will be located on the east side of a landscaped civic square and will be set out over eight storeys.

Up to 800 people are expected to work in the building, which is being designed by AHR Architects, when it is fully occupied. Workspace will range from 13,190 sq ft to 5,000 sq ft.

According to YTL, there will be a "statement" entranceway and lobby, as well as showers and changing areas. A retail dining space on the ground floor will spill out onto a new civic square.

The external landscaping will include mature trees, native shrubs and bulbs and shaded public seating, designed by Bath-based Grant Associates.

Meanwhile, the new gym at community hub The Hangar - in the former aircraft hangar 16U - the Waitrose, , and the new arena for Bristol, will all be just a short walk away.
