Novus appointed to build £1.5 million college extension in Stoke-on-Trent

The project is a three-storey extension at Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College

The new contract marks the second education sector win for Novus in Stoke-on-Trent in the last year

Contractor Novus Property Solutions has won a £1.5 million contract to deliver a three-storey extension at a college in Stoke-on-Trent.

As part of the project, Novus will create a 7,524 square-foot space which will include new teaching facilities and workshops, as well as a large performance room and IT laboratories at Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College.

The works - which are expected to be complete in August in time for the new academic year - will provide extra teaching capacity and allow for a greater intake of students at the college.

Dean Povey, build senior operations manager at Novus, said: "It’s testament to our reputation for delivering exceptional results for the education sector that we’ve secured another contract to improve learning facilities in our home city.

"Sixth forms increasingly provide more varied and vocational programmes, which call for more specialised and technical spaces.

"Our extensive know-how means the project will be executed efficiently and with minimal disruption to pupils and students. We look forward to providing an exciting new learning space for the next generation."

Matthew Marshall, deputy principal at Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College, added: "This is a major step forward for Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College.

"With demand so high, and the first teaching of the government’s flagship T Level courses from September 2020, this development will complement the excellent facilities of the college, Fenton Manor Sports Complex and the shared facilities of the University Quarter (UNIQ).
