Construction work has started on a new industrial scheme in the West Midlands.

Connexion II is being built on Blythe Valley Park in Solihull and is due for completion by the end of this year.

The work will see the construction of three units for industrial logistics or uses of 25,000, 42,000 and 50,000 sq ft respectively at the 122-acre park.

Earthworks are now under way following the appointment of South East contractor Glencar Construction.

Eilidh McAllister, asset manager with Frasers Property which acquired the estate next to the M42 last year, said: "The time is right to speculatively build Connexion II, particularly given the extraordinarily low supply and high demand from businesses for space to expand along the M42 corridor."

Connexion I was completed in 2018 and counts Evac Chair and Gymshark among its tenants.

Pete Goodman, Glencar's managing director for the Midlands and North, added: "Glencar is extremely proud and pleased to have been appointed by Frasers Property to construct this important next phase of development on the park within the heart of the Midlands growth engine.

"This new campus of high specification industrial units will provide occupiers with much needed new space and an exceptional place to work.
