Next phase of Calthorpe Estates regen under way

Greenfield Crescent is being given a facelift as part of long-running Edgbaston Village project

Work has started on revamping Greenfield Crescent in Edgbaston

Work has started on the next phase of a long-running regeneration project in Birmingham.

The 'Edgbaston Village' scheme is being led by property group Calthorpe Estates to regenerate vacant buildings and create new public realm and commercial space such as bars and shops.

Work has now started on giving Greenfield Crescent a facelift, including new public areas, easier pedestrian access and reduced or restricted traffic at certain times of the day.

There will also be upgraded signage and additional parking spaces.

The aim is to make the space greener and safer for pedestrians and is due for completion next spring.

Landowner Calthorpe Estates first outlined its vision in 2013 for Edgbaston Village, initially branded simply 'The Village', with a masterplan which included proposals for a new hotel, specialist food shops, restaurants, bars, shops, beauty clinics and fitness facilities.

Among those to have taken up space since are bars The Physician and The High Field, specialist retailer Loki Wine and high-end homeware stores OKA and BoConcept among many others.
