New shipping container office scheme in Cardiff opens for business

It is the latest development on Curran Embankment from Meanwhile Creative

A new office space built with shipping containers has opened close to Cardiff city centre.

Cardiff Containers, based at Meanwhile House on Curran Embankment, is the latest development from flexible workspace provide in Bristol-based Meanwhile Creative.

Building on a first phase of development, the new cluster of containers are made to a higher specification and include a rear window, additional ventilation and internal plywood walls.

The completed project consists of three storeys of containers connected by steel walkways supplemented by a coffee shop and bathroom facilities on the first floor.

These self-contained spaces have been transformed into offices and workshop-style studios aimed at desk-based businesses and freelancers or makers and hands-on practitioners.

The company hope the finished units will house all manner of creatives from designers, illustrators and artists to musicians, charities and wellbeing studios.

“We’ve been at Meanwhile House since 2016 and added phase one of Cardiff Containers to the site in 2018,” said Emily Kakili, creative site manager, Cardiff Containers.
