New life for historic former Birmingham bank building

Developer Cordia Blackswan has led the project to breathe new purpose into former TSB building

The Bank, Great Hampton Street, Birmingham

A historic former bank building in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter is sporting a new look after undergoing a restoration project.

Developer Cordia Blackswan is leading the scheme in Great Hampton Street to breathe new life into listed building The Bank.

It has restored the grade II former Lloyds TSB Bank so it now has seven commercial spaces across four floors which can be used for office and retail. It has also provided a new head office for Cordia.

The project has retained and repaired a large portion of the building's original and lost features including the terracotta façade and large sash windows which contain Gothic, Renaissance and Dutch gable motifs.

Tenancies for some of the space have been signed already with contractor Garvey Demolition and building design consultancy One Creative Environments.

András Kárpáti, deputy chief executive of Cordia Blackswan, said: "Reaching completion on The Bank signifies the start of Cordia Blackswan's commercial offering and reinforces our overall vision for Great Hampton Street by welcoming organisations with shared values.

"We look forward to welcoming Garvey Demolition and One Creative Environments to join our exciting community."
