Developers are poised to take proposals to planners for two striking North East buildings in a £100m office development.

Investor Legal & General and developer Landid are leading the creation of the two Grade A offices, which form part of the Sunderland City Council-led masterplan to serve up more than 1m sq ft of office space across the Riverside Sunderland development, creating work space for up to 10,000 people.

Ahead of the plans going before the council, images have been released showing how they will radically change the Sunderland skyline.

The two buildings will collectively deliver 200,000sq ft of prime city centre office space, potentially providing space for 2,000 jobs.

The buildings have been designed by dn-a architects, which has worked with the likes of Warner Bros and Unilever, with the larger office comprising 112,660sq ft over six floors and the smaller one delivering 94,991sq ft of space across five floors.

If planning is approved, work is set to begin on the first of the two buildings in early 2021, completing by summer 2022.

Combined, the buildings will deliver more than three times the floorspace of The Beam, the first office to be built on the former Vaux Brewery site which is now home to global grocer Ocado.

Plans for the development of both buildings will go before Sunderland City Council’s planning committee before the end of the year.
