The future for a vast chunk of Birmingham city centre has been made clearer with new images of the Eastside Locks scheme.
Computer-generated images of the Goodman development bordering the HS2 Curzon Street station show drastic changes for a previously run-down part of the city.
The 13 acre site is home to one of the largest mixed-use schemes in the city and work is already underway on canalside schemes including a new student block.
Wider proposals are for retail, leisure and business facilities – the latter of which is boosted by enterprise zone status.
It represents the latest step in the ongoing regeneration of Eastside after developments
Millennium Point and Birmingham City University (BCU) also boasts a major park, and lies next to Curzon Street station.
The Post reported last year that Alumno Developments was investing £30 million on a student scheme on the Goodman site, bordering the two BCU buildings.
The Glenn Howells-designed scheme will create 625 student rooms.

Alumno is expected to be on site by November with enabling works, with completion before the end of 2016 of a scheme with six buildings, the highest of which stretches 17 storeys.
Architect Dav Bansal, a director at Glenn Howells, speaking about the student development, said: “This is a prominent site on a gateway to the city and overlooking the HS2 station. This will be one of the first buildings you will see when travelling in from London, so it is important to have something prominent and somewhere where there is activity.
“It will also be next to the only vehicular entrance into the station, so it is going to be a major part of the city.”
