A new co- working space in Ebbw Vale, built with £7m funding from the Welsh Government, has been launched. The Goldworks building, which extends to more than 10,440 sq ft, has been delivered by Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council and provides space for freelancers, workers and company founders.
The building was funded via the Welsh Government’s £100m Tech Valleys initiative with the internal fit out financed by Ƶ Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.
Operated by the council’s business and innovation enterprise team, Goldworks has a number of small and medium-sized offices, a co-working space and several meeting suites. Tenants and members have access to one-to-one support, mentoring, business workshops and networking events through a council partnership with coworking and small business venture, Town Square Space (TownSq).

TownSq, which supported the council in the lead-up to launch, continue to provide business support, including access to startup and accelerator programmes for Goldworks members as an official TownSq associate space.

It will dovetail with our other property and business support initiatives services that the team offers”
TownSq has supported thousands of small businesses in starting, growing and raising investment. Since being founded in 2017, TownSq continues to spread its community-focused approach around the Ƶ, cultivating supportive space for people and businesses to thrive.
Co-founder and chief executive of TownSq, Gareth Jones, said “Increasingly we are working with partners to help them create spaces built on the lessons and experiences of our team over the last 13 years, and Goldworks is a great example of this - our latest associate space.
