New Chinese supermarket to open in Birmingham

Taste Chinese is making its first foray into the city having established itself in Leeds

Taste Chinese Supermarket will open in Selly Oak later this year

A new food store and café is set to launch later this year in Birmingham.

Taste Chinese Supermarket is planning to open the 3,850 sq ft site in Harrow Road, Selly Oak, in December after a lease deal was struck.

Owner Jiang Young Feng already runs similar outfits in Leeds and this is his first foray into Birmingham.

Alongside the new supermarket, the ground floor of the development will also feature a café while the upper part of the building already has 70 students studios within.

The lease deal was brokered by Birmingham agency Centrick Commercial.

Commercial director George Xydias said: "This popular and vibrant area of Selly Oak is well established as the centre of the city's student population, many who have travelled from all over the world to study at the University of Birmingham.

"Unsurprisingly, there was a lot of interest for this site.
