New Amazon and Interserve offices among winners at BCO National Awards

Annual awards scheme celebrated the best office renovation and fit out projects from across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ

Ingenuity House in Solihull was among the winners at the 2019 BCO National Awards

The revamp of a grade II-listed building for a tech giant and a focus on health and wellbeing in the workplace were just two of the winners at the British Council for Offices National Awards last night.

The annual ceremony brought together all the regional winners from earlier in the year to do battle for national titles at a ceremony in London which welcomed 1,200 guests.

Among the winners was Hanover in Manchester, described as a brave reworking of the earliest surviving commercial warehouse built by the Co-operative Wholesale Society which now houses tech giant Amazon.

In Solihull, Ingenuity House was recognised for its focus on health and wellbeing to create a community from what was previously a disparate network of regional offices for support services group Interserve.

The North East enjoyed two winners.

Janet Nash House in Durham is the European HQ for City Electrical Factors and the materials used throughout are "a celebration of its occupier's trade", judges said, which mirrored the electrical cable.

And in Newcastle, Live Works has become a key feature in the city's ever-evolving cultural quarter with the project delivering a vibrant hub of activity in what was previously a void in the Quayside area.

Completing the line up were three projects in the capital including the º£½ÇÊÓƵ head office of big four accountancy firm Deloitte.
