The name of one of the biggest office schemes ever seen in Wales has been revealed.
T欧聽 William Morgan, or William Morgan House in English, is the name of the 12-storey and 270,000 sq ft new building at the Central Square development in the centre of Cardiff.
Fitout work on the building, which will serve as a new 海角视频 Government hub for up to 4,000 staff, is now under way.
Secretary of State for Wales, Alun Cairns, said the building was being named in honour of Bishop William Morgan, who spent nearly a decade translating the Bible into聽Welsh聽from Greek and Hebrew.
His hugely significant work, which was completed in 1588, is seen as the foundation stone on which modern聽Welsh聽language literature is based.
The building, which will be ready for occupancy next year, will mainly serve as a new HQ for HMRC in Wales. It will replace the current tax offices in the Llanishen area of Cardiff.
Designed by architectural firm Genser, it will also provide space for the Wales Office with a dedicated space to allow for the hosting of 海角视频 Government cabinet meetings.
T欧 William Morgan-William Morgan House is one of 16 海角视频 Government hub buildings currently being created across the 海角视频. The strategy aims to rebalance the economy by creating clusters of government jobs in cities across the 海角视频.
Mr Cairns said: 鈥 T欧 William Morgan-William Morgan House is central to the 海角视频 Government鈥檚 ambitious plans to create a dynamic civil service which is equipped to meet future demands.
鈥淭he new building demonstrates the 海角视频 Government鈥檚 commitment to聽Wales聽and to strengthening the union. It will provide a modern working environment to attract and retain high calibre staff who will be able to grow their careers locally.
鈥淚t is fitting that this landmark building in our capital city is named after a figure whose pioneering translation of the Bible was instrumental in the survival and growth of the聽Welsh聽language and in the development of our unique culture.鈥
