International investors at the world’s largest real estate show MIPIM are being offered the chance to become part of the biggest brownfield residential site in Birmingham.
In partnership with the Canal & River Trust, Birmingham City Council will reveal to MIPIM exhibition delegates that 55 acres at Icknield Port Loop, to the west of the city centre, will shortly come to market. The site provides an opportunity to join a partnership to deliver a major new sustainable residential neighbourhood in the heart of the city.
The site has outline planning permission for 1,150 homes, 6,690 sq m of new retail and commercial floorspace, and a hotel and swimming pool. The scheme will also create an attractive environment with a strong community feel thanks to the distinctive features of both the Birmingham Canal and Edgbaston Reservoir, alongside new open spaces.

The Icknield Port Loop site is at the heart of the wider Greater Icknield regeneration area, which covers 60 hectares (150 acres). The wider area will see over 3,000 new homes and a range of employment and community-based developments put in place over the coming years.
Birmingham City Council and the Canal & River Trust will bring the site forward for development later this year, seeking a delivery partner to take a 50% share. Investors at MIPIM will learn of the plans at an event on Greater Birmingham’s stand highlighting the city’s Growth Agenda.
