Midgard wins brief to build 46-storey apartment complex

Contractor is expecting to break ground on new apartment scheme in Birmingham city centre in the coming months

Midgard has been appointed as main contractor on the new Edition Birmingham apartment scheme

A main contractor has been appointed to build a new tall apartment tower in Birmingham city centre.

Midgard will lead the construction of 'Edition Birmingham', a new residential scheme to be housed on site of the former Paradise Circus council car park in Cambridge Street.

The complex will have 581 one- and two-bedroom apartments for sale across two blocks - the 15-storey ‘Park Residence' and 46-storey 'Centenary Tower'.

The buildings will have 23,000 sq ft of amenity space including a swimming pool, gymnasium and yoga studio on the 44th and 45th floors.

There will also be a climbing wall, co-working spaces, private dining and external terraces with a cinema screen.

The project is expected to create 300 jobs, including 60 apprenticeships and work experience roles.

Work in recent months has been focussed on demolishing the multi-storey car park but now developers are expecting to break ground and begin construction of the new buildings later this year.
